How often should men actually go to the barber?

Somewhere between four and eight weeks – but the right answer depends less on the calendar than on your cut.

The honest answer: it depends. A sharp fade looks different after three weeks than a longer, softer cut does. Here is a guide by cut type.

Short fades and undercuts: every 2 to 4 weeks

The shorter the transition, the faster you see the regrowth. A cleanly tapered fade loses its definition after roughly two weeks; after four the gradient is noticeably blurred. If you love this look, you have to plan for the upkeep.

Classic short cuts: every 4 to 6 weeks

The standard for most men. The shape holds well for about four weeks, after which the top gets heavier and the outline untidy. Six weeks is doable if the cut was deliberately made a little softer.

Longer cuts: every 8 to 12 weeks

With longer hair it is less about the shape than about the ends. A trim every two to three months keeps the hair healthy without sacrificing length.

Beard: its own rhythm

Beards grow independently of the hair on your head and usually need attention more often than the cut. A trim every two to three weeks keeps the outline clean. Many of our clients combine this with their haircut appointment and pop in separately for the beard in between.

One practical note

If you come regularly, each appointment takes less time – and the result is more consistent, because we can build on what is already there. If six months pass between two visits, every appointment is effectively a fresh start.
